Pamukkale

Meaning "Cotton Castle" in English, Pamukkale is unique in the world with it's fairy-like, dazzling white, petrified cascade. Being a must-see during a holiday in Turkey, it's a natural phenonemum created by limestone and calcium rich mineral water from underground thermal springs renowned since Roman times for their theraputic and rejuvenating powers. We'll explore this cotton castle first. After a buffet style lunch, we'll visit historical city of Hierapolis famous for reputation of people for the excuisite finesse of their statuary and marble craftmanship where thus become the center of the greatest sculpturing school of antiquity. Highlights of any visit are the marvellous sculptures now housed in the museum. Your guide will show you various types of ornately carved limestone tombs as well as Apollo Temple, the Theatre and the mysterious Poison Pit! Also an opportunity to bathe in "Cleopatra's Pool" which is like relaxing in warmed champagne. Upon your request, meet up with your guide at port, hotel or airport. We drive to Pamukkale / Hierapolis which is the center of natural thermal spring waters with healing properties. The name Pamukkale translates into English as Cotton Castle. Due to the rich mineral properties in the water which is credited with healing powers that flowed out of natural springs, dazzling white coloured travertines and stepped water terraces have been created over millenia on the mountain slope . It is for it’s resemblence to cotton piles it’s called Pamukkale ( Cotton Castle ) by locals. Visit the travertines and ancient city of Hierapolis which has the biggest necropolis with 1200 gravestones in Anatolia. The Sacred Pool is another highlight of this unique natural phonemum. It’s alleged that Cleopatra swam in one of the pools that is open to public . We provide flexibility to swim in this pool if you wish.
